New Toy, Love Quilts

I have been playing with my side saddle after Mr Frog Quilter "re-engineered" the connecting rod. This love top was made with all those 2.5 wide scraps (coins) that aren't big enough to use as a square. I had the side saddle, machine quilt each square and each triangle. I'm really getting familiar with the program and it's becoming natural.

Here is almost the whole view. Really makes a cute quilt.
In between resetting the machine I have been sewing all the coins that I had. Way over due to sew them to strips. Next quilt I think I will make smaller blocks. Have you guessed I like to play with fabric scraps. :-)
This next love top was started at a love sew in at guild. Its pretty large.

Tomorrow I plan on quilting one of my many quilts using the saddle. I already have the heart panto picked out. It will be my heart quilt.

Another Love Top and a finish

Still creating new love tops out of orphans and pieces. This one is very interesting. It will suit a tall person.
Have quilted quite a few love tops. I counted 10 total in some stage of binding or waiting for binding.

The yellow and blue quilt is for someone special. Its made of 2.5 X 4.5 rectangles. Blackie was making sure it was acceptable. It is!

Quilt Testers, Love Tops and New Toy

I thought I would introduce you to my quilt testers. "Blackie" is sitting the love top I quilted on Saturday doing free hand feathers. I think he approves... The quilt in the background is one that my grandmother started and I finished. All flying geese off set due to our different sizes.

Next is "Sebastian" a siamese tabby. He is so sweet. He's quite large laying next to the Handi Quilter.

This love top a combination of many parts from the UFO bin. I quilted this love top last night/today playing with my new toy. A Side Saddle by Quilting Solutions. It is a mix of electronic quilting and free motion quilting. You can find more information here. You pick your pattern, set up, and the computer and machine do all the work. I've very pleased with this addition. Now I'll be able to quilt all those heirloom tops I was too chicken to quilt...

I ordered a bunch of e-pantos and anxiously await to use them.

Orphans and Pieces

In an attempt to somewhat empty my orphan bin, I am making Love Quilts. I pieced three tops together one day. This was great for my imagination. These will make a child very happy.

The one above is my favorite. Its much brighter in person.
The bin is still almost full but not "jam packed". I am half way done with another orphan top today.

Chinese Gardens

Here are some of the eye catching pictures at the Chinese Gardens in Portland OR.

The last picture will likely become a quilt.

Fabric Depot and Chinese Gardens

As I mentioned in my last post Susan took us to a place called Fabric Depot in Portland. It's about 5 times the size of Mary Jo's in NC. Fabric galore, notions and everything and anything sewing related. I'll call it "heaven". And between the four of us we dropped a lot of $$$.

Here is a picture of my suitecase (which I purchased in Sisters) that has fabric and patterns only.

Well blogger won't let me add pictures so another post will follow.
