UFO Quilted, Downy Kids Quilt

A picture of Blackie snoozing for you cat lovers. He's so sweet.

Its been a productive weekend in the sewing department and house cleaning. My pile of quilt tops has grown and it was time to make it smaller so I quilted this spider web quilt. I used a stars and loops pattern.

The brown and blue quilt is a Downy Quilt that they sent me. If you are interested in putting one together, they send everything, cut. You piece, add your batting (I used scraps) and thread. This is the link for the Downy Quilt for kids.

New Project

Blogger has had its way with the photo order. Rrrr.

I recently found a booklet (given to me) and loved the quilt on the cover. After studying it I engineered the pattern. Using my accuquilt go cutter I cut the star points and assembled them. The corner stone pieces of the star block came from the already assembled bag. So sewing the block is FAST. For the snow ball block I cut 9.5 inch squares. From another bag of already cut triangles I added the color corners.

The bags of prepared units are one of my ways to process scraps of fabric. I never tire of working with scraps.

I've got more blocks to make and am already thinking of how I want the border to look.

Quilt Room Re-organization

Last weekend Dee and I re-arranged my bedroom/quilt room. I did this so that I could stand at the back of the quilt machine and use paper pantos. In a matter of hours all had been moved (furniture mover pads are wonderful) into new positions. The only thing not put back in was a night stand which will go in the garage. I have to say that I am really enjoying my space. Its seems so light and airy now. I love it.

Check back to see a new quilt top I am working on.

Orphan blocks and scraps, Reorganizing

I took a pile of scrap blocks, pieces parts and made a very colorful child's quilt top. It's very happy and bright.

Yesterday I spent the day with a good friend who helped me organize my bedroom/quilt room. We had so much fun!!! Now I am able to get behind my quilt machine and use panto's to quilt. The new configuation is very bright and clean looking. I removed many layers of dust that were hidden.

This cutefrog jumped out of a flower pot while I was watering. Since then he comes out regularly.

I have started a new quilt (big surprise LOL). It uses spikey star blocks which I am making using the accuquilt cutter. The rest of the pieces all come from blocks and pieces that I have in my stash.

Inspiration and my helpers

Inspiration comes in many forms. There are very few patterns I will make as they become boring but every once in awhile.....

Quilts and More magazine (Summer 2011) had a cover quilt that I just had to make. I used my 2 inch scrap bin but it's still full. How can that be?

My assistants this afternoon. Good thing I didn't have to cut any fabric.
