On the frame

This quilt is for a special friend. Hubs will present it when it is finished, in the near future. It's a surprise. His wife is a quilter too, so everything must be perfect.

The quilting pattern is pathway to the stars.

In between I have been making scrappy stars. I have a grandson due in June and he will definitely need a quilt.

I have been enjoying two work holidays in a row due to the weather. Last night we got around 3.5 inches of snow. Doesn't sound like much but in the south snow is a rarity. I am so thankful we did not get more than .25 inches of ice.

Both days found me sewing away. Wonderful.

Weekend Stitching

First is a QOV I quilted yesterday. I used a star loopy panto.

This next one is a sibling quilt which will accompany a baby quilt (which is done except for the label). I will be stitching down the binding for slow stitching Sunday.

Lastly this is how I deal with dry cracked hands. Mine crack so bad that they bleed. This product is amazing. Now I can get back to appliqué which I miss.

I'm linking up with Kathy Quilts and hope that other quilters will get relief for their hands.

Retreat Day 3 (last day)

And mine.

It'll be a early to bed tonight as I'm tired. Power sewing will wear you out after three days.

QOV Retreat day 1

Lots of ideas... Some not finished yet.

Log cabin.

These pin wheels are pretty neat. I even have a bolt of that white fabric.

We even had a long arm.

More tomorrow... I'm trying to unwind for bed.

QOV Retreat is here

I'm off to Toccoa GA this morning for the QOV retreat. I think there are close to 100 quilters who have signed up. I am so looking forward to sewing for three straight days. To be eligible for prizes they have tempted us to brings blocks and a top. This top is one I started in our Gilbert QOV a few months ago (ok that was last year). The day this was photographed it was cloudy and grey outside. The colors do not read correctly. The blue you see is black with gold. And underneath is our new porch that has been under construction since October 2013. It's almost finished and I have been enjoying the hot tub.

I hope to be able to post, showing quilting craziness and fun this weekend.

Making Blocks With Help

I started making blocks yesterday for the Celtic Solstice Quilt. As of late this morning I completed all the blocks with four patches and spiky stars and a few of the pin wheel blocks. I need to finish the pin wheels blocks and then I can start assembling the top.

Lucy is a block magnet as soon as they are on the floor.

Maestro had to get involved as she didn't want to miss out.

Shortly after these pictures were taken, my blocks were re-arranged willy nilly.

Having fun with the kitties!

QOV

Here are two quilts I quilted last weekend. Karen M did a lovely job of piecing these and even provided the backing.

I did hand guided machine quilting on both of these.

When Karen picked these up she had a bag of scraps for me. YUM. Thanks Karen.
