Seeing Stars

I have been making string stars the last few days.  These blocks all come from the 7.5 inch string blocks.  All the others (and there are lots more) are 8.5 inches.  Add to this my effort to reduce the amount of 2.5 inch strips and we have funky stars.  There are four more to assemble.  Since they are so wild I'm thinking about sashings and connector blocks.  They are beautiful.  This picture does not show them well.

UFO Haunting

Have you ever had a UFO that haunted you?  I have one.  It used to stay in the bathroom storage and every time I would go,get batting it would, star,me down... Then it moved to,the long arm table and I saw it everyday....  I'm sick of seeing you!  So I finished it up early this morning at 7am.  By 8am it was finished.  I had to add a backing piece as I had under cut the correct amount, so now add more batting and quilt away.  I am so glad it's done.  It even has the binding stitched and waiting it's turn for hand stitching!!!!  Yay!

While I was on a roll I quilted a baby quilt needed for a coworkers wife due in January.

It also has the binding stitched on.  Lots of hand work for a couple evenings.

I did stitch a little on part 5 of Allietare Mystery.  Almost there!

Saturday Update

Christmas Eve my son and family spent the day here.  We all had a fun day.  My grand daughter and I baked Chinese chewys which came out perfect.  We all enjoyed them.

I also introduced Caitlin my GD to quilting.  She took to it right away and wanted to make more little quilts lol!

Here she is proudly showing her creation!

And the back.

I quilted this top which is a gift for Dennis.  Last Christmas I gifted Dennis and Dot with a quilt.  Well Dot has fully adopted the 2014 quilt, so I made one for Dennis.  I know he will get to enjoy it!

The back..  This picture was taken in the late afternoon sun.  The binding is waiting to be stitched down.

For the cat lovers, my kitties had a blast with all the wrapping papers.

Today I have been working on Allietare Mystery by Bonnie Hunter.  I hope to finish the current step tomorrow.

Weekend Update

I finally finished Lynn's T-Shirt quilt made, with her deceased sons clothes.  I have made three or four so far.  Each quilt is so special.

The back has Jesse's baby blanket and favorite pillow case.  It is made so that when Lynn snuggles the quilt, the baby blanket will be up close.

So sweet!

Lori of Humble Quilts sent me a quilt top to finish and donate.  Here it is, it only needs the binding stitched down.

The back with a wild print.

I will do another post later today with my Allietare update.

Allietare Mystery

Here is my progress for step four.  I had so much fun pulling out fun fabrics for these four patches.  I was even giggling.  See the ants underneath a watermelon type red print lol!

To see what other quilters are doing with this quilt along go to
Quiltville

Anxiously waiting on the next mystery installment!!!

In other quilts news I have been experimenting with a four inch drunkards path block and scrappy of course.  I think this would be great for a little one as there is so much to see.

Lucy always does a full inspection of each top OR set of blocks.

Next scrappy quilt will be four patches in boy colors and then one in girl colors.  I'm trying to use up bunches of scraps...the bag secretly regenerates over night while I sleep lol.

I don't have any babies due in the near future but it always good to have tops ready to go.

Being Creative

Our guild had a Christmas holiday gift exchange that started in July.  We all brought 1 yard of Christmas fabric.  It was sliced and diced and you ended up with a bag of fabrics and a name.  We were to make our named person a gift.

I thought my fabric said 4 patch and they did but I used one fabric as a focus and built around it with four patches.  It is quilted, bound and has Bevs name and other information monogrammed on the backing fabric.  I understand that she loved it.

I will show mine from Bev tomorrow.

Allietare Mystery

All of step one is sewn and trimmed.  Step two is sewn and the units have been trimmed.  I still need to cut the grey and black units.  I'll do that another day.

My grey fabric is a topo of lake and creeks that have fun names.

I'm really enjoying this mystery.  See what others are doing

Project Updates

I have been very busy lately.  adding more blocks to the stain glass strings.  I like how it is progressing.

Next up is Allettiare, the Bonnie Hunter Mystery for 2015.  My gray is a topo map of lakes and creeks.  I've had fun reading all the fun names.  All of step one is finished and sliver trimmed.  I have a good start on start on step two.  I would have been finished but I had to squeeze in a Christmas present for our guild holiday.  More on that later.

Temecula is having their mini Christmas mystery.  The small blocks are SO CUTE.  I am only behind two blocks!  Janet are you participating?

Lastly Christmas came early for the kitties.  They got a new kitty condo and they love it!

More tomorrow as I will be off from work Yay!
