Weekend Update

It's been a busy weekend here.  One day I worked on Liz's red, pink and cream eye fooler.  I have nine blocks completed.  Each block is around 20 inches.  I also have all the pieced sashing and connector blocks done.  Now I need to figure if it needs to be bigger.  Wish I could show you but Liz would peek lol.

I put together another baby quilt, quilted it, bound it and it is waiting for a label and stitching down the binding.

And the back which is flannel.

I finally got an opportunity to play with my mini eye fooler quilt.

The components of these blocks contain two inch finished pieces.  I love this pattern in batiks.  There is something about working on these that makes me smile.  The quilt has not told me how big it will be.  So until then I will happily piece and SMILE!

I hope you took time to relax and stitch this weekend.

Sewing Retreat in the Mountains

Spending time in the mountains with a good friend is awesome.  What is even better is all the sewing we are doing.  I have been working on the red, pink and cream eye fooler for Liz.  It's progressing nicely.  Can't show you as Liz stalks my blog lol.

I was wondering how a mini eye fooler would look...two inch finished blocks.  You be he judge here.

It's brighter than the picture.  Be still my heart.  Denise is hand stitching one that will have one and a half inch finished blocks.

This is our work space, the entire dining room table.

Denise was finishing these blocks for a friend last night.

And our slivers container is over flowing.

We are debating how much more we can pile on it.

We had a light dusting of snow early this morning that was very pretty.

Time to go back to the table and sew.

Seeing Red

I am making a queen / king eye fooler quilt for my friend Liz in Scotland.  It's all reds and a few pinks and cream colored fabrics.  I can't show my progress as I know she reads my blog.  I can show all the sliver trims that I have accumulated in the last two days.

I spent all day yesterday making all the units so today started assembly of parts.  I almost have three blocks completed.  The quilt looks like this just with different colors.  This is only a quarter of the quilt.

I needed hand work for the evenings so I have been needle turn appliqué blocks from this book.

I started with the block called heart and hands.

All these blocks will use light colored batik fabrics for the back and striking colors for the appliqué.

Time for hand stitching.  Hope you are making time for relaxing stitching.
