Seeing Red

I am making a queen / king eye fooler quilt for my friend Liz in Scotland.  It's all reds and a few pinks and cream colored fabrics.  I can't show my progress as I know she reads my blog.  I can show all the sliver trims that I have accumulated in the last two days.

I spent all day yesterday making all the units so today started assembly of parts.  I almost have three blocks completed.  The quilt looks like this just with different colors.  This is only a quarter of the quilt.

I needed hand work for the evenings so I have been needle turn appliqué blocks from this book.

I started with the block called heart and hands.

All these blocks will use light colored batik fabrics for the back and striking colors for the appliqué.

Time for hand stitching.  Hope you are making time for relaxing stitching.

  1. I can't wait to see the red and pink eye fooler. I cut out that pattern years ago and started using it as my leader/ender. I set it aside after awhile and forgot all about it. And here you are on number 2!
Love that heart and hands block!

  2. My hand stitching project for the evenings is still my hexagon quilt. The pattern you are making for your friend is lovely.
