Week day update

These are the bits and pieces I worked on after work in the evenings.

First up are my blocks for mini Monday.  I'm using widths that I already have, 1 1/2 inch.

Hearts that got sown.

This is my start of tumelo trail using again 1 1/2 inch size for the nine patch blocks.
I am not sure about the sashing and setting stones.

Plaids on plaids

I quilted this top today and I am so pleased.  I even found a red plaid like fabric for the binding.  Woot!

Project Updates

I decided to participate in Temecula Monday mini.   I'm using the sizes that I have, 1 1/2 inch strips and blocks. So mine will turn out larger but that is OK.

These are my hearts from this week.  The cow one needs a few more  stitches but I couldn't resist showing it.
Here is the plaid on plaid quilt top.  I think it might be finished.  Maybe another red border.  Any suggestions?

Catching Up

I am catching up on all my commitments. Proposals, QOV's and quilting for others. I quilted the last of three QOV's yesterday and I have top loaded that I will start as soon as I finish this post. It feels really good to get caught up and not have things hanging over my head. I started appliqing some hearts and they are so cute. A heart is needle turned on a 4.5 inch back ground. They are so fast to sew. As you can see blogger is not cooperating this morning. The small heart quilt (this is the back) is for the Cotton Robin which I participate in every time it is offered. I can't show the front, it will be mailed tomorrow. And the plaid on plaid top continues. I'm thinking I will put a strip of the light plaid fabric around these nine blocks and go from there. The top will tell me what to do next lol.
Enjoy your Sunday. Here in the south it will be HOT today but that is normal for us.

A guys quilt

I am making an effort to use up all my home spun fabrics as they are definitely NOT my favorite. With retirement in a few months I am making a co-worker a lap quilt. We've worked together for twenty years, through thick and thin, ups and downs. So recently Bonnie Hunter had a post in Quilt Maker magazine for a paper pieced block. I saw an opportunity to make it my way and accentuate the middle friendship star. Plaids on plaids is in full swing.

A Mother Day

My mothers Day was delayed until last weekend. I spent the weekend with my son and had the best time. The theme for the weekend was "its all about Mom"! I was pampered, gifted and taken fishing twice. What a great time we all had. I even caught fish which are in the freezer waiting to be prepared. So since this is a mainly quilting blog...Last weekend before I left I knocked out one of my many waiting QOV tops. Just a few more to go. I will post later what I am currently working on.
