It's gorgeous!  My heart is singing.

Also the third sprout column is well under way.

I have figured out what I will do on the bottom as well as the top.

As for what I was going to show you, well it didn't work out.  I hated it.  I tried to use whole pieces of fabrics for the arcs in the double wedding ring block.  In addition I have figured out why some parts did not fit.  Duh it helps to position the D part in the right orientation.  Live and learn...  It hasn't diminished my continuing on this quilt.  Full stream ahead lol.

On The Frame

My morning quilt is being quilted as I write this.  I wanted to have this quilt finished by the one year anniversary of my sons death.  That will be October 30.  So I think I will make it.  It is a Sue Garman pattern but I used inch and a half squares and added appliqué for the final border.  The top was completed in about ten days.  I took something so terrible and put my heart ache into a quilt.  Quilting is my therapy!

This is a bad picture, the quilt is MUCH LIGHTER than it shows.

Pattern is hearts and swirls.  I used So Fine thread in white top and bottom.  Yum!

New Sprouts

Here are the orange peels blocks this week.

It's rainy and yucky outside.  I'm very comfortable in my Jammie's and it's only 5pm.

Enjoy, cause I am.   These are much brighter in real life.  I am thinking about the bottom, from where they sprout.  I already have a plan for the top.

Orange peel is growing

I have had a long week with work.  We pushed out a new version of our software after the old one quit.  All went well considering.  I am so glad it's done.  Now to mo pave forward.

What's that on the side?  Looks like the start of a double wedding ring quilt.

I think I will change the centers and the sides with different light colored fabrics.

I have been steadily hand stitching these blocks so,this morning the light seemed perfect for a picture.

I think they are fabulous.

Postage stamp flimsy

After emailing with Karen I decided I was tired of looking at my blocks on the wall.  She was just the inspiration I needed to get going on these.  So this morning I picked out a neutral batik and got busy.

The picture is a little blurry...  Sorry about that.  To finish it I think I will make more 5 x 5 blocks and have them float in the neutral fabric.  It will look great when I finish and there will be plenty of area for quilting.

I'm steadily making the orange peel blocks.  There is something so soothing about stitching them.

It won't be long before I will need to design the rest of it.

Time to get back to stitching.

Sewing Machine Covers

Remember all those four patches I had sewn?  I made machine covers for the two berninas.  They came out great, no pattern.  I might sew down the ears so it doesn't look like a pillow.

Busy Sunday

This morning I put a love quilt on Maxine.  My bathroom has storage (in the tub) and I'm trying to empty it before renovations begin.  This is the last love quilt.

Love the texture!

And steadily stitching orange peels.  These are so soothing.

Well back to finishing the other light blue peel.

Saturday Sewing

I was asked about my postage stamp quilt.  Well it's been off and on my design wall.  Currently on...

There are a couple other blocks laying back there. 

My latest obsession is orange peel blocks.  Each is made of batiks and are needle turned.  I can stitch a couple in an hour.  The stem between will be different colors.  Wild and funky just like I like it.

All those 4 patches I showed the other day are being turned into sewing machine covers.  

Time to finish the second orange peel.  Mmmm what color should the stem be?

This and That

This was suppose to post Sunday...  Let's try again.

I have been busy all weekend but don't have much to show.

Made a few more string blocks.

Cleaned up the sewing room and took care of scrap fabric just laying around.  Yep more four patches.  At first I had thought about making a love quilt, but I decided to make sewing machine covers.  They need sliver trimming and then I can assemble the covers.

JUST noticed I omitted my name in the second label.  LOL how did that happen?

On a non quilting note Hubs and I emptied the hot tube and refilled it.  Ready for another year.

Weeds also got cut down (the tall kind), car vacuumed.  Today I am pooped.  Have a stack of quilt magazines that need going through and passed on.
