Another orphan flimsy!

I finished the top I started yesterday.  I have added it to my pile, there must be 25 tops there.  This does not include my personal tops.

I'm off to St Paul MN tomorrow.  I've packed plenty to stitch.

I'll post progress during the week.

More orphan creations

Continuing the orphan effort, here is another session.

I'm not finished with this one yet.  It has many more blocks and possibilities to come.

In the mean time I am packing for a work trip to St Paul MN.  I fly out on Sunday and return on Thursday.  It is the annual drinking water conference.  I have been involved in this project since 1999.  I have been preparing plenty of stitching to keep my hands occupied.  This is a welcome break form actual work.

Wrestling the orphans

My next task is sewing a laundry basket full of orphan blocks and pieces.  I selected a group of reproduction blocks and in a hour or two I had this flimsy completed.

And a few leftovers can go on the back.

Excuse the pictures, we are still in a renovation mode.  Almost back to normal.

I experimented with some mini pinwheels and made this mini.  I think I'll try hand quilting it.  It is much brighter than the picture.  So Janet does this work???  I'm thinking about starting a mini gallery in my renovated hallway...

And for the kitty lovers, some mutual grooming.

Sewing and organizing

I am still organizing all my blocks and miscellaneous pieces.  These will be the next effort to get them sewn up at least to the flimsy stage.

The baby quilt I showed last weekend is for a coworker.  He also has a two year old.  I'm a advocate for siblings not getting jealous of the new born so I have made her a beauty.

I stretched all rules adding in different fabrics when I ran out.  The outer row has linear fabric and the middle square is a different fabric with similar values and color.  You really have to look hard to see it.

The back is a nursery rhyme fabric in soft colors.

So while I was making the pin wheel blocks I experimented with some that are very small.  Janet you will like these.  This one is taken on top of my iPhone 6.  I'm almost to the point of putting together.

Time to get more stuff done.

Baby Quilt etc

Yesterday I quilted this top, well the electronic saddle did.  I love this picture first thing this morning.  It shows the wonderful texture of the baptist fans.  It will be gifted to Sam who just had a son a few weeks ago.

And the back.

Maestro was right there giving her approval.

And for slow stitching Sunday I'll be continuing stitching down the binding on Liz's quilt.

Be sure to see what other stichers are doing today

Moving fabric

I decided that I needed a cleaner look in the sewing room.  So I moved all the bolts of fabric to the garage, second floor.

That was a very big job for me but it is done now and I am enjoying breathing room.  It's also very clean, dust was every surface due to the bathroom Reno.

I have also been working on a rug for my new bathroom.  As soon as something is placed on the floor, my inspectors start examining the item.. Well Lucy approved.

Each layer of rope adds a 1/4 inch so it's slow going, but I think it will be worth it.  I also quilted a baby quilt late this afternoon.  I'll post it tomorrow.

Friday I quilted the eye fooler quilt and made and attached the binding.  Can you guess what I'll be doing in the evenings?  It has to get done so...

Sneak Peak

I have been rather quiet of late.  Working on finishing Liz and Bills bed quilt. I had to add a whole other 12.5 wide section to bring the size up.  These blocks are 4.5 unfinished.

I am supposed to travel to Minnesota the first week of May and Liz and Bill arrive on the 12th.  Next weekend will be machine quilting and binding.

Today I am play sewing for me.  I will have plenty of hand stitching for when the Masters finally is playing on tv.

I do smaller eye fooler quilts....  Can you say afflicted lol.

This one the blocks are 2 inch finished.  It's still a work in progress as it has not told me to stop yet.

Another UFO

From a bag of blocks.  Made... Who knows?

The first one that was all crumbled up.

The two side by side.

I just noticed in looking at the picture that one top has dark travelers and the other has light travelers.  They will make lovely love quilts.

Eye Fooler

I attached the last regular row onto Liz and Bills quilt top yesterday.  This picture is a teaser for Liz as she will not see it until it is done.  This is a good representation of the fabrics and colors.

Disregard the rug and litter box.  I am in the middle of a bathroom renovation and space is limited.

I found this top in the massive block pile.  I have other blocks.  Do I make it bigger or make another with the other blocks?

Sweet Maestro chillin.

Sew something today.

MAM Blocks

Lately I have been trying to tame a big bag of scraps.  It's 80% reduced now and I have put it away as I am ready for something different.

On the way to be ironed.

The last batch.

Inspector Maestro checking it out!

A little kiss for Mama.  See my paw?

And finally a picture without the inspector.

The are 82 blocks here.

The master bathroom is being remodeled and all the the stuff that was stored there has been dragged out.  I'm in the process of going through the multitude of bags of blocks.  Does anyone else have this issue?

Anyway I found 75 more MAM blocks so I have enough for at least two quilts.  Lots of labels were made and one batik quilt in progress was taken out for finishing with the possibility of another small one being made from the additional blocks.

Time to get up and start something...
