Helping Hands and Muscles

I have been helping my brother with a big awning job.  The material is canvas on one side and vinyl on the other.  The awning is 5 X 10 feet.  This material is HEAVY!  It really helped to have extra hands to lift while sewing and folding for sewing.  10 The rib supports have windows in the middle so that a light strip can be inserted. Very nice.  This job is finished In time for the long weekend.

Stitching and enjoying...

I am progressing on my chicks cross stitch piece.  I think it will be done before I go home on Friday.

I have been assisting my brother in his nautical canvas sewing.  He is so creative.  The two pictures are from the other day when we traveled up river to the next marina to do a repair job on a canvas boat cover.  Four hands were definitely better!

Family etc

My Brothers memorial yesterday went well, good service and the BBQ afterwards turned out fabulous.  There was no power due to the tornadoes that came through earlier in the week.  There was a big fire place so a fire was built and maintained.  We were toasty warm.

I am staying with my youngest brother John on his boat which is in a slip.  Love it.  Sleeping on a boat is the fabulous.  You are rocked to sleep every night.

A quiet day

I spent a quiet day yesterday, the anniversary of my son Johns passing.  I let needle and thread soothe me all day.

In the process I completed 19 red string blocks and there is still a pile of red strings.  I think they reproduced while I sewed lol.

Today's priority is finishing the directions for the string stain glass quilt.  Then if there is time I will tackle some sewing.

Sew a stitch and soothe your heart.

One More Border

I only need to appliqué enough hearts for another long side. I should be able to stitch these in a few nights. I'm loving how this top is progressing.

OMG Its a Flimsy!

I am now working on the border. It will be hearts. Still undecided about pieced or appliquéd hearts or maybe a combination of both. What would you do?

The Grieving Quilt

Did you know that quilting is grieving therapy? It is and it has kept me focused on making a Oh My Gosh Quilt. I used inch and a half strips instead of the original inch strips. I'm loving it and its using lots of fabrics.


How do you like my design wall? It is a outside table cloth with a hem sewn. Presto design wall. The backside of the table cloth is flannel.


And I've been stitching along on ole Benjamin Biggs blocks. Just for fun I added pink flowers, a nice surprise.



My sewing machine is calling me...
