I finished this top yesterday.  The colors are brighter in person.

A little update

I have made it through a cancelled vacation, major flooding which we were very fortunate to have no damage and a great quilt retreat which was wonderful.

I have been steadily stitching my sprouts.  Only four pairs left to sew.  I think I am going to do some small 4 patch on the sides.  Then I will see what the quilt wants.  Maybe it will say "I'm done".

Last night Hubs was watching a nature program and the two Manx kitties were watching too.  There was a bird talking.  Amazing that cats watch TV!

I know the picture is a little dark.

This morning I have cleaned my quilt room as it looked like a hurricane came through.  It is lots better now.

More progress later.

O My Gosh it's quilted

It's gorgeous!  My heart is singing.

Also the third sprout column is well under way.

I have figured out what I will do on the bottom as well as the top.

As for what I was going to show you, well it didn't work out.  I hated it.  I tried to use whole pieces of fabrics for the arcs in the double wedding ring block.  In addition I have figured out why some parts did not fit.  Duh it helps to position the D part in the right orientation.  Live and learn...  It hasn't diminished my continuing on this quilt.  Full stream ahead lol.

New Sprouts

Here are the orange peels blocks this week.

It's rainy and yucky outside.  I'm very comfortable in my Jammie's and it's only 5pm.

Enjoy, cause I am.   These are much brighter in real life.  I am thinking about the bottom, from where they sprout.  I already have a plan for the top.

Orange peel is growing

I have had a long week with work.  We pushed out a new version of our software after the old one quit.  All went well considering.  I am so glad it's done.  Now to mo pave forward.

What's that on the side?  Looks like the start of a double wedding ring quilt.

I think I will change the centers and the sides with different light colored fabrics.

I have been steadily hand stitching these blocks so,this morning the light seemed perfect for a picture.

I think they are fabulous.

Postage stamp flimsy

After emailing with Karen I decided I was tired of looking at my blocks on the wall.  She was just the inspiration I needed to get going on these.  So this morning I picked out a neutral batik and got busy.

The picture is a little blurry...  Sorry about that.  To finish it I think I will make more 5 x 5 blocks and have them float in the neutral fabric.  It will look great when I finish and there will be plenty of area for quilting.

I'm steadily making the orange peel blocks.  There is something so soothing about stitching them.

It won't be long before I will need to design the rest of it.

Time to get back to stitching.

Busy Sunday

This morning I put a love quilt on Maxine.  My bathroom has storage (in the tub) and I'm trying to empty it before renovations begin.  This is the last love quilt.

Saturday Sewing

I was asked about my postage stamp quilt.  Well it's been off and on my design wall.  Currently on...

There are a couple other blocks laying back there. 

My latest obsession is orange peel blocks.  Each is made of batiks and are needle turned.  I can stitch a couple in an hour.  The stem between will be different colors.  Wild and funky just like I like it.

All those 4 patches I showed the other day are being turned into sewing machine covers.  

Time to finish the second orange peel.  Mmmm what color should the stem be?
