Another quilted

I quilted this yesterday while digging out the next piles of blocks and fabrics.  I’m thinking a medallion type quilt to start.  I’ll let my brain explore the possibilities and see where it goes.

The geranium plant is one that survived the winter indoors and now is blooming pretty flowers.  Enjoy!

Quilty Hug Flimsy

The rest of those strips were made into four patches and the into 16 patches.

I didn’t have enough for a top only using them, so I cut up some 8inch squares.  Dang didn’t have enough. Well what if the green blocks go on the outside and another color on the inside.  Perfect and add a little border and here’s a quilt top ready to be quilted.  

I have quite a few tops that need quilting but I have not felt the best in the last few weeks.  Maybe the doctor can diagnose my issue.

A Quilty Hug

I made a Quilty Hug and sent to a friend who had undergone some heart surgery and also has thyroid cancer. I hope this quilt comforts her as she recovers. I have hundreds of MAM mile a minute quilt blocks. This quilt and a king size did not even make a dent in the pile. Blogger chose the picture order, ugh.

Those ginormous blocks are part of a retaining wall being built to handle sediment run off.

Feeling Pink

There was a bunch of pink blocks that came in a scrap bag (from Linda V).  They were calling me the other day.  This is what became of them.  The one photo shows a fabric that will be added as a border.

I have been getting my flowers planted by my front door and I have started the window boxes.

Another pretty

I finished this quilt this morning.  She demanded feathers, lots of them.  What a joy!  And a few garden pictures to enjoy.  I saw a humming bird this morning which motivated me to make the sugar water and hang the feeders.  The humming birds are already enjoying their food and I love seeing them.

The Pro Stitcher

My pro stitcher was finally installed and I am learning by doing. These are not perfect but very useable and will be perfect for quilty hug quilts.  Meastro was my assistant and gave me the thumbs up.

Blocks make tops

I have had this pile of neutral string blocks and it was time to use them.  I love how this came out.  This will be quilted for a quilty hug.

BTW I order my new quilting machine Saturday.  HQ Fusion 24 with a ten foot table.   Yippee!

Quilting this week

Has been one of K from A left handed quilter.  She recently sent me two of her "squirrel" tops and they are all made in batiks.  They are fabulous.

This is one I worked on this week a few evenings.  I think it turned out really nice.  What do you think K?

Joy, Joy, Joy

Three quilts were given this morning to chemo patients.  Each person receiving one, was touched.

On the way into the hospital I was approached by a young woman who thought I had given her Dad a quilt.  She described a bright blue and green quilt.  Of course I knew exactly which quilt it was.  She thanked me and let me know just how much it was appreciated.

Another Top Assembled

Is completed. And it doesn't look like I made a dent in the pile of four patches. So I will make another  top in this style.

 My long arm got a spa treatment this afternoon and is performing very nicely. You know what I'll be doing today and this weekend.  Finishing Quilty Hugs for Monday's visit.

The Joy of Giving

Yesterday while at the chemo lab, I gave three quilts to cold chemo patients.  The last one, the large batik quilt was presented to a man.  Tears streamed from his eyes after laying the quilt on him.  After a hug I was filled with joy for the whole day.

Weekend Update

I had a bag of scraps that I was tired of looking at so I did something about it. I turned them into MAM blocks. All 55 blocks.  Now all that's remaining are short scraps that will become coins.

A batch of Carolina chain blocks.  A Bonnie Hunter design.  I have at least one more bag of carolina chain blocks to sew into a top.

A donated top from a member of High Country Quilters NC. This will be sent to Heart Builders for their November quilt drive.  

Busy

Friday evening I quilted my chisel top.  I quilted a medium meander using a light tan thread.

Saturday I did not even pick up a needle and thread.  I was busy cleaning the front porch.  It was so dirty.  I have a eight foot section left to do but that is for another day.  Other tasks like carrying off the trash and recycling to the dump.  Also grocery shopping.  It was after nine last night by the time I quit.

This morning I quilted a donated top from A left Hand Quilter. Thank you so very much.  I quilted funky baptist fans.  

Both of these quilts will go to chemo patients this week as part of my quilty hugs program.

I finally finished my talking turkey blocks. A Bonnie Hunter design. Now to ponder how to set them. I'm thinking with sashing and corner stones.
