Sunday Strings and a flimsy

I have massive amount of strings and need to get them under control. Is that even possible?

I was motivated by Bonnie Hunter to start stringing some geese. Here is what I have done so far.

Aren't they cute?

And yesterday I finished a long time top. A smorgasbord of mostly Christmas blocks and parts. This will probably get donated.

Easy Street Part 6

Here are all my parts for Easy Street. The lime squares are feeling left out.

I used some black and white with lime color to add a zing! I'm ready to put this top together...

Christmas Eve Correcting Easy Street Part 5

Seems I inserted the wrong photo for this step. The correct photo IS

I have a pumpkin pie in the oven, a turkey breast defrosting to cook later. I am still debating on making bread / cinnamon rolls.

I have enough food here for a small army.

Wishing a joyful day to all. Enjoy the process to create what ever you are doing.

Sunday Bakers Edition

The before fresh apple walnut cake.

The finished..

And my annual dried fruit cake. The dried fruit and brandy marinated in the fridge for a few days. This year I used craisins, dried blue berries, apricots, raisins and dates. YUM?

I think I will try a piece.. OMG! It's fabulous.

Easy street part 4

I promised myself yesterday I would work on this mystery and I did.

As you can see from the picture I used the Fons and Porter ruler to cut both the main triangles and the wing triangles.

I'm not quite finished but I will remedy that tonight.

Happy stitching!

Two full size done

It has been a busy weekend. Hubs was away hunting so I took advantage of the time.

Saturday I finished the first T Shirt quilt and have binding stitched down.

The back

Here is the second... the problem child. I started with a very nice panto of swirls and a heart. After a row and into the second row all hell broke loose. Nothing worked. Here it 2 pm, frustrated I through my hands up and walked away for a few hours.

Now back at the frame I changed threads and went to town emulating the digital pattern on my own. Talk about quilt till you drop... I finished it at 9 pm last night. Trimmed it and left my sewing room a disaster. So today you know what has to happen first in there.

The back...I had to expand the fabric by adding a slice. If that isn't enough, I had to add a 4 inch piece on the length for the rollers ugh!

It's done and beautiful. Yes the grass is yucky looking and I admit being too lazy to walk down to the rope between trees to hang these quilts.

Today I promised my self to work on the next step of Easy Street.

Easy Street Part 3

Here are the first patches for part 3. Last night I was so tired that I went to bed early. I woke up early, read a few blogs and thought, I might as well get up and finish part 3. I did finish.

Bring on step 4.

Busy Sunday

I started my day making bread and cinnamon rolls. Cinnamon rolls mostly for a work event tomorrow. This afternoon I finished up a order for 14 coasters. I am so glad to be finished. I'm thinking Clemson colors.

I met my son and family at Cracker Barrel for a nice lunch on Saturday. On the way home I stopped at the quilt shop in Orangeburg SC. A Stitch In Time, Again. They had lots of 50% and 40% off fabric. I couldn't pass up a good deal.

The Black on Whites are for my Easy Street Quilt. I will post my progress tomorrow.

There might be some more sewing tonight OR not. I'm pretty tired so I might make an early night of it.

T Shirt Flimsy and Mug Rugs

Again my sewing room is a disaster. That means I have been busy. This is not the best picture but you get the idea. Linda approved this top yesterday so here it is. The top is full size with a 8 inch over hang.

I have a customer order for 14 mug rugs. I woke up this morning and thought I need to get it finished. That is why you see rope in the picture.

The first one is done. While stitching these I am watching a Patsy Thompson quilting video.

Easy Street Part 2 DONE!

I finished these flying geese units, all 134 of them last night watching Nebraska get whooped :-(

This morning I re-inserted my red snappers back into my quilt leaders. Oh how I have missed you.

Excuse the messy look. I usually have multiple projects going and somehow my room gets messy. How did that happen?

East Street Part 2

In between working on one of the two T Shirts Quilts and errands, I am trying to complete part 2. I have about half of the flying geese finished.

I am using a Fons and Porter ruler to cut both types of triangles.

This mystery is teaching me new things. I never really understood this ruler. Now I feel confident and I will use it in the future.

Tonight I plan to sew another stack of flying geese. There is something SO soothing about feeding pieces of fabric through the sewing machine.

The Last Quiltlet

Is being finished up now. The roll of tape is to stop the shaking of the quiltlet while I take a picture.

And the bag of the others. I think nine in all.

This a T Shirt from the collection I am working from, on commission. It made me smile!

Easy Street Part 1

Here are the 200 4 patches in a grey and black on white prints. These were actually very soothing to sew. The grey print I have had in my stash forever.

I am anxiously waiting for step two. Bring it on! Hop on over to Quiltville to see what others have sewn.

Organizing...

A never ending task.... Here is the sorry state of a fabric shelf before...

And the after...

And... The colorful stacking bins from The Container Store. They hold my strings. The bin colors coordinate with strings in them.

I had hubs do the heavy lifting to put bed risers under the bed. This will give me some much needed space for storing quilts. Just love to make them, keep some and give some(ok a lot away).

Busy busy

I have been busy with a variety of projects. I am doing Easy Street, the new Bonnie Hunter mystery. I have added a link on the left side of my blog. Here are about 194 pairs waiting to be sewn. There is a pile of ten that are sewn.

They are starting to be sewn.....I reward my self with sewing these as I work on the two T Shirt Commissions quilts. This works good for me and keeps me motivated.

Tinker Belle likes to help me eat my yogurt. Blackie is just sitting there looking strangely at her. He does not like yogurt (he normally eats anything) I guess he is jealous that she has my attention.

Have a quilty weekend.

A Quiet Day

Hubs and I spent a nice quiet day yesterday with a early dinner at 4. Here is our special table with fancy china. We really enjoyed it.

And of course you know I was sewing up a storm.

These 6X6 blocks were sewn in my hotel room when I traveled in May. I started out sashing in just two colors but I didn't like it. So I just kept adding more colors and am happy with it now.

I am doing some re-organizing in my sewing room. This seems to be a never ending job. I will share pictures when finished.

I picked up my Bernina 200 from Branums today and stopped at Hancocks for black quilting thread. I've been working on quilting quiltlets for a special project. They are pillow style so only light quilting is needed. It takes longer to load (with pins UGH) than it does to quilt. I only have a few more go.

Hope you have made time to sew this weekend.

Quilting in my pajamas

Today will be a quiet day. I have already quilted a love quilt and it was a challenge. These quilts are pillowed cased so I had to remove my red snappers. I am reminded of how I don't like to pin quilts to the leaders.

What great way to start Thanksgiving! Doing these quilts just warms my heart!

I did a all over swirl pattern.

the back.

Lovely texture. have a few more to do but I really need to start on two full size t shirt quilts. These are a new commission.

For the animal lovers. My special kitty Sebastian. Right now he is on my lap giving me some nice therapy. Mmmmmm

Happy Thanksgiving.

Ironing board upgrade

My ironing board was getting a little (ok a lot) yuky. I didn't have enough decorator fabric to make a new cover so...

The old

The improved

I fused some misty fuse on the back of this piece of decorator fabric. After it had completely cooled, I pulled the paper off and finished by fusing it to the existing fabric. It will do for now but I will be on the lookout for some inexpensive fabric to do it right. How do you keep your ironing board looking nice?

Aqua strings and a flimsy quilted

Here are nine more aqua string blocks.

Are you sick of seeing my string blocks?

Yersterday I got the urge to quilt one of my many tops. So I put this work of art on the frame. I just love this quilt. It is made up of orphan blocks and so beautiful. I used a rosy colored thread on top and so fine on the back. The panto is bountiful feathers.

And the back.

I am off to my grandsons birthday party today so no quilting. Maybe this evening when I get home. Tomorrow for sure.
