I am really pleased with how this top came out. I've spent most of the weekend getting it to the flimsy stage. This is a 3 X 4 layout and "HUGE". I learned a few things making this top. Utilizing rulers not used before; making things work. Remember - I did not have a pattern, just a black and white picture. So I met my goal of making this a flimsy this weekend. Whoop Whoop!
I think I would consider making a 2 X 3 for a lap size quilt. Great for quilters who have lot of scraps. Thanks to all my quilt buddies who keep me supplied with scraps. I like all the variety of colors and patterns.
What did you get done this weekend?
Frog Quilter
WOW, this is wonderful, and all without a pattern. Looking forward to seeing photos when it is quilted.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!!!! wooowooo!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I especially like how you did the edges!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really great! I printed out the block pattern many years ago--also in black & white -- and every time I come across it I think, yep, I'd like to make that one day. Thanks for the reinspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful use of your scraps. It turned out great!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Looks like you have a lot of patience.
ReplyDeleteliz that is beautiful x
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed, Beth. This is really amazing. Love it!
ReplyDeleteDid you see that another quilter has this on her design wall (er, design floor) today? (#21, Kris).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish. Glad you persevered.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic quilt especially since you did it without a pattern!
ReplyDeleteWOW! It's awesome! I must put this on my to-do someday list!
ReplyDeleteHi... I love the quilt, and don't want to rain on your parade, but would hate to see you quilt this and the discover it for yourself after you were all done... One of your pieces is reversed! :( Second row from the bottom, second block, the bright green triangle is reversed. Should be pointing down, not up! That is the kind of thing that would drive me bonkers if I didn't discover it until I was done quilting it! Thanks to you, and the other quilter posting the same quilt, I have started cutting scrappy pieces to make one of my own!
ReplyDeleteSo bright and colorful! The scrappy setting border is a great finish.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fabulous. You are keeping me motivated to finish mine. I found the TriRecs a little challenging to work with. The side triangles seemed to splay out a bit, so I had to measure and trim almost all of them so I didn't end up with puckers when I sewed them into the rows. Same was true with my flying geese. I laid out my last row last night and found I need a few more pieces, so I am on my way to the finish line.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a beautiful finish.
it turned out wonderful. I love it. cant wait to see it in person. soon.
