The rest of the quilt

This top was so fun to quilt.  I was definitely in the zone.  Maybe I should do another tomorrow...

Happy Easter 🐣🐣🐣

Just add batting!

I volunteered quite awhile ago (a few months ago) to quilt kids quilts for heart builders.  They needed a finisher and I was happy to commit.  I quilted circles and loops, fun, easy and fast.

The binding has been stitched on and later I will machine it down to the other side.

I added a backing that I think matches.

Kitty from https://alefthandedquilter.blogspot.com recently sent me a box of goodies for my Quilty Hugs passion.  In the box were two tops, one of which had a back and binding.  Assorted blocks and odds and ends.  Thank you Kitty for being so generous.

I was in the groove this morning and knocked out this top, enjoying the feather quilting.  I'll post more pictures later.  I LOVE how it came out!  πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈ

Last Orphan Top

I finished the border on this top in the wee hours of the night.  These steroids are keeping me so awake.  I make the best use of my time by sewing "more".  πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈ

Maestro was my model this morning.  You can see glimpses of Mr Tale on the right side.

QSC Spring meeting 2018 and almost a top

This past Saturday was our state quilt guild spring meeting and our district hosted.  What a grand time we had.  Everything went off like clock work, we all did our jobs.  We set up the day before and broke down after the meeting was done.  This was a all day affair.  We hostesses wore aprons made by Dee who did a fabulous job with the spring like fabric and cute ruffle at the bottom.  They even have pockets.  Anita lead the meeting and always does a fine job.  She is so organized and thoughtful.

We had a photo booth which was so fun.  That's me in the white hat!

And after putting away stuff, doing a little laundry, some cleaning, some hubby time I made my way into the sewing room to continue on this one orphan block top.  All it needs now is a yellow border around and I declare it to be ready and worthy.

I have put the rest of the blocks and parts away as I am tired of playing with them.  It's time to do something else.  I will post a glamour shot of the completed top tomorrow.  Hugs everyone!  πŸΈπŸΈ

More Assembly

I thought you would be interested in seeing a few days progress of just plugging along using small amounts of time.  Currently I am enjoying the creation and satisfaction of putting all these elements together.  I was up early this morning (4:30am couldn't sleep anymore, head full of "things")

I think one, maybe two more sessions and this will become a beautiful quilt top that can be finished up.  The joy will continue, as I love seeing the recipients face as they are given a quilt, later see that person using the quilt when receiving chemotherapy.  One of my favorite memories is of Janet flipping over the back of her quilt proudly show her quilty hug label that I embroidered.  Janet was showing a new recipient that she had got one too.  Funny!  So much love is communicated through all of this interaction.  I always walk away with a FULL HEART that is busting.

Enjoy 🐸🐸🐸

Top Finished

I finished sewing the long seams yesterday after work.  Today I pressed it and took it outside for a beauty shot.  Lovely!  πŸΈ

More Orphan Blocks

This was as far as I got today.  I ran out of gas (energy) around 2pm and have been on the couch since.  Hubs and I were like two bumps on a log lol.  Enjoy 🐸

Attacking the strings

My strings are out of control so it was time to get them sewn.  I started with the green ones on Sunday.  I now have 23 eight inch blocks.

Next up will be the blue strings.  πŸΈ

Applique and Star Blocks

I finished the first Worcester block after a few weeks of stitching.  I love how it came out.  Also I have more star blocks.  Still have lots of purple batik scraps to use so I'll keep making them.  πŸΈ

Weekend Update

I assembled this top the other day.  I had most of the parts ready.  I sliced and diced the string blocks and then made four patch blocks.  Put borders on and it was ready for quilting.  I did the quilting this morning, a fun feather meander.

On another note I have been appliquing a new project.  The Worcester Quilt.  The blocks are big at 16 inches and there are lots of different stitching.  So far I am enjoying it!  I will be joining Kathy for slow stitching Sunday Here.

In the last picture Mr Tale is trying to punch Tinker Belle.  I think he has the advantage.
