Back in the Saddle

I made my DH a fabric covered rope mat for Christmas. His is on the left. Mine on the right has been used for quite a few months. These are quite handy when your plate or bowl is hot.

My new side saddle computer came in the mail today. She is all set up and I quilted a pet quilt (really a big block) to make sure everything was as it should be.

It is and I am so glad to be back in the saddle.

Christmas Wishes

I had this pinned to another quilt,.... and thought a sleeve would not take long. So I finished sewing the sleeve on last night. I have been crazy busy today and not had to the chance to hang it. This was a guild snowman exchange a few years ago. Makes me smile to look at it. Next post it will be hung alone. :-))))

Merry Christmas to all my friends in blog land. I cherish all of you.

Change of plans

When I found out how big the older brother was... So I went digging in the top bin. This top now quilted is appropriate for a nine year old. Brennan is going to love it. I quilted it with a large stipple as he likes soft things to cuddle up with.

As I was stitching the binding, Tinker Belle had to inspect. I do believe she approves.

3 Finishes

First - thanks to all who sent well wishes. I really appreciated all of them.

I have a baby shower to attend this week and have completed the jacobs ladder for the baby. She is due in January. She has a brother and I try to include sibblings so they don't feel left out. I pulled some crumb blocks and created a cute quilt.

They are in the dryer as I write this.

Today I sewed a set of doll pajamas. These are going with the new 18 " doll I bought for my grand daughter. It was rather challenging and just what I needed. The pattern called for elastic. Had problems with it so I put in a draw string made of fabric.

In Broad Day Light

In between the time I left yesterday morning and the time DH got home from work (about an hour) we were robbed. The solid wood door and dead bolt did its job and held securely. BUT the door frame did not. It had to take a quite a few strong kicks to break down the door frame. Shattered is a good word to describe the door frame. It was inside and outside the house.

DH called me while I was at Walmart doing some Christmas and grocery shopping. Needless to say, I paid for what was in my cart and rushed home. I did not want to believe this could happen to us but it did. I am very thankful my cats were ok.

DH had a friend who is a carpenter come over and patch up the door frame so the house could be secured.

My lack of Christmas Spirit this year is now worse. What is wrong with people who rob others and think it is ok? To invade another persons santuary is just wrong.

I will force myself later today to put out some Christmas decorations in an effort to improve my spirit. I write this in part as therapy and as a warning to others. Make sure your house and other buildings are as secure as possible.

A quilty post will follow later today...

Quilting Today

I quilted this small green and white one today using a bubble panto. I made and sewed the binding down. I picked a cute backing with numbers on it. I have a relative with 4 new grandchildren, 3 if which are triplets. AYYYY!

So after looking into all the tops I have I picked this one as a start. I have selected others as possible contenders.

I'm also looking to reduce my orphan blocks so today I also put these strips together. I picked a wild in between fabric. The black border contains everything nicely. It would make a great baby girl quilt.

Was a wonderful day relaxing and quilting.

Daisy's Quilt and three quarters is a flimsy!!!

This top I'm calling 3/4 (three quarters). I started it in a quild workshop. I did have some problems in attaching the borders. I did what I could and now am just happy it is a flimsy. Now it can move from one spot to the to be quilted pile. Together IS better than perfection.

Next is the dog commission quilt for Daisy. I know she will just love it.

Doggy Trails

A long time best friend commissioned me to make a quilt for her dog. This is my creation and she loves it.

I used the accuquilt dog cutter and did free cutting on the curve blocks.

Today I'll zig zag the dogs and maybe get it into a flimsy.

A week of giving

My accomplishment for the last 2 weeks.

A baby quilt for a little girl due to be born in the next 2 weeks.

The bright star quilt will go to my massage therapist who was in a bad car accident in October. This will be her healing quilt.

This nine patch pastel went to a woman in the hospital who consistently gives to everyone. She doesn't know me but we have a friend in common.

18 More Steps

Finished 18 more courthouse steps blocks. I now have 80 total. I think I still need more as I am planning on doing a full size quilt. I love visiting all these fabrics.

In making these blocks you would think the 1 1/2 strips would decrease. NOT! So I'll be making plenty more...

I started sewing and stuffing a new doll last night....

Zen Tangles Lecture / Class

One of the guilds I belong to had Joni Fedderson give a lecture and mini demo Thursday evening.
Joni is a Certified Zen Tangle Instructor in South Carolina. She is a very talented lady.

Each of our cards is so very different. Doing zen tangles is very SOOTHING; almost meditative.

New Addition, new addiction?

This past weekend I attended the Quilters of SC annual fall retreat held at White Oak, Winnsboro, SC.

I took a doll making class all weekend with teacher Rita Tompkins. We completed the entire doll except for making the clothes. I'll be listening for her (the doll) suggestions on what she wants to wear. I'm quite pleased with my ART DOLL!!! Isn't she fabulous????

I think she will need some play mates................

Wednesdays Catch

Whoppers!!!!

I know this is primarily a quilting blog but I am having so much fun fishing.

The new waders DH bought me were really too small (the brown pair). The blue pair of waders was a loaner from a neighbor. My new pair of Orvis waders are nice and roomy. That means comfy.

I have been doing a little applique in the afternoons. I'll try and remember to post a picture of my birds.

Fishing Day #2

Day one brought 4 nice trout. (Actually they are all nice).

Day two. I've got 6 nice rainbow trout. The pictlure without a smile is because I'm cold and have hiked half a mile back to the campground.

The rain is moving in tonight. No matter what the weather we always have a great time here.

Scottish Friends Arrive

Our scottish friends arrived yesterday in Charlotte. After leaving the airport we headed for Capt Steves in Fort Mill SC for a wonderful dinner. Dave joined us as well. Too much food but delicious.

Tomorrow we head to the mountains of NC for a week of trout fishing.

To fish in the stream is bliss not to mention that eating the trout is delicious.

Quilty Archives

I've had a very busy weekend. Lots of sewing but not much to show. Lots of binding, embroiderying quilt labels, you get the idea.

Upon trying to download my pictures from todays efforts I had camera problems. Every picture did not want to download. So batteries are charging.

Looking back through my picture archives I've selected a few for quilty content and one for the cat lovers out there.

The red and white patchwork quilt is one that currently is on my dining room table. It is bound but doesn't have a label yet. I need a name: X Marks the spot.

Tinker Belle looking fabulous.

A love quilt I turned in last month to guild.

Project Status

Here is the progress on the wedding wall hanging which I totally redid. I wasn't happy with how the top lined up with the text. After all this, with the sides finished. There was space at the bottom begging for something. It's a wedding wall hanging so I added a heart. I used the accuquilt go cutter to cut the large heart. Then I needle turned the heart.

The progress on the fan quilt. I had to order more background dot fabric. I am appliquing 3 large dots on each side. I have one side finish and would have had more done but a nice thunderstorm happened yesterday. We lost power for about an hour and half. The name for the fan quilt is three quarters.

Hope everyone has made progress on what ever you are creating.

Wall Hanging, Misc

Here is the progress of the wall hanging I'm doing for Liz in Scotland. This is the second time. First time I did the name and wedding date first and then embroidered the top wedding bell. I wasn't centered so I scrapped it. I'll make a bag or something with it. It won't go to waste!

I quilted up a panel fabric surrounded by a cute piece of yellow fish fabric. This will be going to someone at work who is due in November.

Here are the left over fan units. I always seem to make too many. There are enough here to make another quilt top (34).

I've also bound Itty Bitty and Shark Crumbs. They are washed and are drying now. All that is left on them is a label. And maybe a pillow case too.

Blogger did not cooperate so sorry for the eratic pictures vs text.

Shark Attack - Crumb Top

My new floor is finished except for final scrubbing (to get off the grout). That will have to wait for another day. I have a mexican stew simmering on the stove and I plan on sewing the rest of the afternoon. Sebastian took the opportunity to strut himself into the picture.

Mr FQ commented on how nice the floor was. Made me feel good. :-) LOVE IT!

A certain little boy (actually he'll be bigger this year) will be getting a bed quilt. Crumb blocks surrounded by sharks, trying to eat the smaller fish in between the rows. So cute. The back will be sharks on a turquise background. He fishes so I know he'll love it. His little brother will be receiving Itty Bitty.
